"Rose Heather" yarn... and bracing for another major winter storm...

Just when I thought the Groundhog was right this year...  that Spring was going to be early... we are hunkering down for another major winter storm right now... it is a blizzard as I type... with the BIG storm moving in tonight...  our little town is nestled on a narrow strip of land  between the beautiful foothills just east of us and the Great Salt Lake to the west, so our storms really pack a wallop! ...  we are expecting a foot or more of the white stuff, along with winds gusting up to 60 mph tonight and into the entire weekend...  I say enough is enough!... stupid Groundhog!... I'm blaming it on him for getting the forecast wrong!...  Jack has gone to get a prescription I needed and some extra things from the grocery store and more birdseed for our feathered friends... we are used to this kind of weather here in Utah, but have not had it this bad for alot of years... so, we hunker down and hope for the best...  the winds make it a whiteout, so of course we don't want to be out in it... that means lots of indoor time to read, bake, crochet... I am sooo happy I went to the crafts store the other day and bought the yarn I have been wanting to make my new afghan...

I used to knit, but it has been so many years since I have, I honestly don't remember how...  but I do crochet...  I was looking for some soft, snuggly yarn in a dusty rose color for our bedroom... they had exactly what I wanted...  don't you just love it when that happens!...  the color is called "Rose Heather" and "Dark Rose Heather"...  they match my favorite vintage roses teacup perfectly... and also the heathery~roses in my new tea~stained quilt... I just started on it last night and already love how it is looking so far...

There is just something so soothing to the soul about a soft snuggly afghan... especially with colors like "Rose Heather"... and the satisfaction that comes from making it yourself...

So...  I am hibernating for the weekend...  only going out to take Tessy out for business...  we both bundle up so...  we look like Eskimos when we go out!... she's a Spring~Summer girl too, like me... but she does like to strut her stuff in her pretty pink outfit as we walk down the trail past the Sheltie boys house...

I've got my favorite teas on hand, as always... and am ready to relax and sip my Lady Grey and crochet...

Hope you are warm and cosy where you live... now, I am going to eat that last piece of red velvet cake before Jack gets home!... xoxo...  Julie Marie

I don't knit and only crochet a wee little bit. LOVE THAT YARN and Tessy looks so DIVINE! HOW FUN!

It snowed here yesterday and the day before. UGG. I'm a Cali Girl and so I'm not a big fan of the white stuff. I'll take the beach any day...

Hope you are well sweets. I'm off to backtrack a bit! Busy week!

Yes Debra... we often lose power and that really makes it rough!... sometimes, we have gone several days without... usually it is from the winds bringing tree limbs down... brrr!...

Keep warm and safe... We just got our snow storm and today the sunshine is out. We got about 12" of snow... too much for this girl, but thankfully our offices were closed. Enjoying our snow days with my family.

What a precious picture of your dad.

Have a great weekend.

Hi Julie Marie, Darling picture of Tessy in her very chic outdoor outfit - - love the hood to keep her ears warm! :) - - and a very special picture of your dad! I was so intrigued by your book on nature, searched the internet and found one!! Can't wait to see it. I'm such a book lover and have never given any away. They're my friends. :) We've had 8 blizzards this month in Minneapolis (according to the weather report this morning), bitter cold for weeks, and we're having a snow storm NOW! :( I. too, have been crocheting an afghan all week, sitting by the fire, and sipping tea - - and trying patiently to wait for Spring! Take care and stay warm, Ruthie
