Are you a Nature lover like me?... .

Do you take the time each day to notice Nature...  I am hoping that you do...  my life is full of Nature everywhere...  from our daily Nature walks in our beautiful countryside, to the colors of Nature in our home...  to the treasures we gather from the trail that sit about here and there in our home...  and to my gardens which soon I will spend much of my day in... and to the little critters who call our home outside theirs as well...  deer and squirrels... birds of every kind...  all of God's precious little creatures are welcome here... I love Nature and celebrate and savor every single bit of it...  many of my books are Nature books, field guides, wildflowers...  and more...  and the magazines that call out to me speak of my love of Nature as well...

Some of my favorites come from "across the pond"...  Country Living British Edition is a favorite I have been buying for years...  our Barnes and Noble gets them a bit behind schedule, I just barely got the February issue...  but they are sooo worth the wait... I must admit that what once was my favorite magazine ever, Country Living (U.S.) has been a disappointment to me the past few years...  soo many ads and nothing at all like the original Country Livings I loved...  the British Edition has stayed true to their original magazine...  and I find so much enjoyment in it...

Besides wonderful recipes and decorating ideas, it is chock full of beautiful photos from Nature and fabulous articles...

Aren't these froggies adorable!...

Another favorite from the UK is LandLove magazine...  the title says it all...  this was my winter edition...

I love all the little Hedgehogs they have over there...  here, they are reminding you to give them shelter of some kind for the winter, as they hibernate, but often awaken to come out for food...  the little shelters will keep them safe from predators...  we do not have Hedgehogs here in the US, unless someone has brought them over as a pet... I would love to see a baby Hedgehog!...  the name "hedgehog" comes from old Middle English wording because they frequent hedgerows and because of their piglike snouts...  I think they are adorable!...

This is one of my favorite photos in the latest issue I have (January~February)...

The caption reads "A moment of calm...  how many winters has this old farmhouse seen? Nature is still sleeping but Spring is near and soon the cycle of country life will start afresh"... I love that...  as Spring is near here too and soon the cycle of country life will start afresh in my countryside as well...  xoxo...  Julie Marie

I used to love CLiving, too, Julie Marie. I do think it is a big disappointment anymore- NOTHING like the originals. I quit my subscription several years ago.

I have never picked up a copy of the British CL. I will have to look for it.

Aren't those hedgehogs the cutest thing you have ever seen? I think they are. I have never seen a real one.

I hope you had a wonderful day- xo Diana

These look like wonderful magazines, Julie Marie. I feel the same way about Country Living...so many ads for prescription drugs and then another page with all of the info and warnings. Very sad. Can you just Google and find out how to subscribe to the British version? I used to pick up a lot of foreign magazines and newspapers at our Borders before it closed. I really miss that.

Beautiful post and pictures. My neighbor at the lake had a dog that looked and acted just like a hedgehog! lol!

XO,
Jane

Hi Sweetie !!
What an interesting post by you !! Your magazines are delightful Julie Marie ... LOVE the wintry farmhouse pictures ... Sooo serene and beautiful !! I enjoy my magazines and get soo much inspiration from them !! I sooo agree with you, about Country Living ... Not at all like it use to be, and sooooooo many ads and just JUNK !! Alot of magazines have lost my interest as of late .... I LOVE my Jeanne D' Arc, and Joanne Colettis ..... just beautiful !! Every page is breath taking, and they stay true to Romantic Country Chic sweetness !!!

I STILL feel, IF you truly LOVE something, how do you change to be like the latest rage, or everyone else ..... I'm so happy, that I'm easy to please, and, just content in what I LOVE !!! The simple things in life .... Love when you share from the heart ....

Happy week-end to you sweet one
Hugs ~TeA~ xo

Can there be a better name for a magazine than Land Love? I had not heard of it before and it sounds like one I would enjoy. I am a big admirer of those cute hedgehogs too, and how sweet people put up houses for them.

A lovely post. Makes me appreciate our nature more seeing it through someone elses eyes. Its years since I've seen a hedgehog, they are so cute. I did'nt know you don't have them.

Love your robin mug, Emma Bridgewater's factory is in the next town to me. I adore robins and love seeing them in the garden.

Hi Julie Marie! I learn of more wonderful things from your blog! These magazines look so pretty and interesting. I love little hedgehogs and no, I didn't even realize they weren't found in the US! I also purchased Fairytale Easter because of your sharing about it in a recent post. Quite the splurge, but it's such a large book with beautiful photos on quality paper. Have just read the first chapter, but I know I'm going to love it. So glad I learned about it from you! Have a delightful weekend! Bess

Hi Julie Marie,
Yes, we just love nature here and so enjoy it all around our area.
I used to subscribe to CL but now only pick it up now and then when I see something of interest. It has changed over the years.
Looks like the British Country Living mag is a good one.
Wonderful pics you share. Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Celestina Marie

I have a relative who just got a hedgehog for a pet. It eats cat food and uses a litter box. :)

I feel the same way about CL. :( HUGE disappointment and I won't waste my $ on it.

I picked up some European mags at a garage sale while in Cali last April. NO ADS...or not very many anyway. What's up with that?

Love this sweet post and you KNOW I love your pictures....swooooooooooooooon...

Oh! These are a few of my favourite things! I subscribe to CLiving UK and have read the odd copy or two of Land Love, along with several of the many similar, new publications on the British market. I currently indulge in a new subscription to The Simple Things which I think you would enjoy too.
I formerly belonged to the Country Living forum, it was wonderful to be in a group of like minded souls, but they spoiled it all by merging with all the sister publications, and now the whole thing is merged into one big Hearst Publications conglomerate. so sad

Oh Julie Marie, sometimes how I wish we lived in the country...although there is God's nature all around us, there is nothing quite like the countryside to be fully surrounded by it. Wishing you a wonderful day my friend.

Much love,

Good Morning Julie Marie, I, too, have totally lost interest in my Country Living magazine for all the reasons your friends have written, and planned to let it run out. I called Barnes and Noble, and they carry the UK copies, so my daughter is going to get me a copy today. Just love reading your blog!! All your writings are so inspiring, and I learn so much. Keep thinking "Spring"! It's starting to feel like it outside.
Hugs from Minnesota, Ruthie

My favorite magazine is the British Country Living Julie Marie. I love them so much more than the US one. It is pricey, but so worth the money :)
Your previous post was beautiful my friend. I'm doing a little hibernating too.hehehe It's been so cold lately, so it's by the fire for me!
much love...

Hi Julie!

I saw a little snowdrop blooming outside our front door yesterday and was so excited that this tiny flower knew that spring was coming soon. Sometimes I sit in our front window and soak in the bit of heaven here on Golden Pond. Swans, ducks, occasional geese, squirrels (one fat one that stops by to drive our pups crazy). They are so calming indeed.

Have a great weekend Julie!
Hugs,Sherry
