Friday the 13th... a Lucky Day for Me... and Some Exciting News to Share... Plus a Giveaway Coming Up Soon!...

I love Fridays that fall on the 13th... they have always brought good luck to me, not the opposite... infact, I was born on a Friday the 13th... yep, one month from today, May 13th is my birthday!... here I am turning one year old... stuffing my face with a yummy cake my mama made for me... I was born a chocolate lover!... and I still am... I don't need any gifts, just give me a chocolate cake, let me at it and I'm happy!...

You don't need to try to figure my age from the date on the photo... I'll just tell you... I will be turning 63 years old in a month, and am not ashamed to tell you that... age is like so many things... a state of mind... I don't worry about getting older... there are physical changes most certainly... but I will always be young at heart... if you think you are old... you will BE old!... think young!... I was also born a gardener... I have posted before about my love of gardening from a very early age, learning from the best... my mama, in the photo below giving me a much~loved ride in our wheelbarrow when I was 3 years old, my grandmother and my great~grandmother... all of who (or is it whom??) were incredible gardeners, Nature lovers and had such a zest for life!... which I happily inherited...

Now for some really incredible news... in my previous post, I told you once more about my beautiful cousin Veni Harlan who found me through my blog... well, yesterday another blogger friend of mine, Sharon Lovejoy, who is an author, illustrator, lecturer and former writer for Country Living magazine, sent me an incredible video of an Eagle at a lake in Baton Rouge... Veni lives in Baton Rouge so I sent her the video also... I emailed Sharon Lovejoy back and told her about Veni... and guess what!... Sharon and Veni are cousins on Veni's daddy's side of the family!!!... Can you believe it!... and neither one of them knew it until I put them in touch with each other yesterday from info I received from each of them!... Veni and I are cousins on the Vicknair side of the family (my daddy's side and her mama's side) and Sharon and Veni are cousins on the Harlan side of the family (Veni's daddy)... Sharon lives in California while Veni lives in Louisiana... and I am in the middle... in Utah... wow!... what are the odds?... so in a way, I like to think I am sort of, kind of related to Sharon Lovejoy too!... we share a mutual cousin and her family!... as well as a mutual love for gardening, Nature and all of God's creatures... now, if I just had all of the talent those two ladies posess!...

So, there you have my news for today... since I am excited over all of this, and since today officially starts my birthday "month of celebrations" from now until my actual birthday on May 13th... (we don't just celebrate birthdays for one day only in my family!)... I am getting ready to do a giveaway... I will announce soon what it will be... something Nature and garden related I am sure... I may look 63 years old, but I am still that silly little girl in the top photo... who still loves to stick her fingers in the chocolate cake!... and I am still that three year old little girl in the wheelbarrow who still loves a good ride in one and giggles when she gets dumped out... (yes, that old wheelbarrow is still in our family!)... doesn't really take alot to make me happy!... xoxo... ** April 19th... I am linking up today to Debra's Vintage Inspiration Friday vintage garden at Common Ground... be sure to read my post I did just above this one and enter my giveaway! I will enter you once for each post you comment on, this one and that one!

So many thing to respond to here...
First, my Mom also believed Friday the 13th was her lucky day! Another reason to love you. Next, I am a May baby too. Something more I have in common with you. :)

Your Mom was beautiful and YOU, my dear friend, are the most BEAUTIFUL woman I know...inside and out! Age is just a number! I never would have guessed you for being anywhere near 60.

How fun that you are weaving such a web of family, sharing and love through your blog.

Happy Birthday Julie Marie, I am astounded that you are 63-I would have thought a lot younger-but like you said it is a state of mind. I just turned 60 this year and I'm trying to remember that it is just a number; I want to live a healthy and long life. I too long chocolate and my dad use to push me around in a wheelbarrow. He was an avid gardener and so was my mom.
Thanks for sharing; loved hearing about the two cousins!
Hugs today. Noreen

OK...I have chills over this incredible connection. WOW! Truly a God-thing!

I wish my b-day was in May. December b-day (especially those that are after the 15th) get lost in Christmas Joy I'm afraid. So...maybe I'll start celebrate mine in May, too! :)
