Dear Hawk...

Thank you for visiting us in our back yard today... and allowing me to get close and photograph you...

Yes, you are a beautiful, magnificent bird, but I do believe you are a bit pompous!... just look at you, sticking your chest out like that... I think we need to have a little talk about your attitude...
Hey!... I am talking to you!...please look at me when I am talking to you!... there goes that attitude again!...
Really?... you say you follow my blog, and you read I love all God's creatures?... that's correct... all God's precious little creatures are welcome here, however, we do have some house rules you will be expected to follow...
You are most welcome to come here to dine... we feature a tasty assortment of goodies in our backyard buffet, including gourmet seed mix, deluxe nut and fruit mix, cracked corn, peanuts in the shell (unsalted, of course), Woodpecker's Favorite Suet, Berry Suet, plus orange and apple slices, along with fresh peanut butter... HOWEVER... birds, squirrels, rabbits, foxes, and any other wildlife enjoying our sanctuary are NOT on the menu!...
Do I make myself clear???...

As long as you follow our house rules, I think we'll get along just fine... yes... I will feature you on my blog... yes, I will let the female Coopers Hawks know you are available...yes, I will let you know if you get any emails... (I still think you are pompous...but I love you!)... xoxo...

  10. Hey there Girl! I know - I know - I've been away - seems like forever. I am trying to catch up this weekend!
LOVE THESE! I love Hawks and have been known to pull the car over if I see one flying around. One scared me one time. I was out with one of our dogs when he was a puppy - about 3 lbs and tiny, and one swooped into our yard - right past me and I felt the breeze from her wings! I was so afraid she was going to get the pup but he had chosen that exact moment to wander under the motorhome - perfect timing. Whew!
But they are truly beautiful birds! ours here have red heads. Very cool.
    Have a great day! Karen

  11. Wow what great photos of that most beautiful bird. Come on over and see what animals I photographed this morning.

  12. You are amazing with all of the creatures. I have never seen such a close up of a hawk...I thought they could sense when people were around!! Great shots!

Have you ever made your own suet...I haven't but I saw a tutorial on a blog and it looked interesting.

Have a happy Sunday!! Go Bears!

  13. Dear Julie Marie, I was so pleased that you liked my photos. I try to share some from my house or our land every weekend. Your photos of the hawk are beautiful and I love how you talked to your visitor.

I love hawks and we see them out here regularly, but being a chicken lover, I rather dread them hanging around our house too much. At the moment, I don't have a flock, but I will later this spring. My girls are usually afraid of hawks as they seem to consider them as possible options for dinner.

You have such a pretty blog! I'm so glad you dropped by. :O)

  14. Wow that first image is a stellar capture of that commanding bird. Just look at his feet, so very powerful. He is proud!

  15. Oh, Julie Marie - fantstic, funny post - yet VERY truthful! haha I feel the same way. I've posted about the hawks in our yard, but good grief, if they ever swooped down on any of my Sammy Squirrels I'd be devestated. Or the birds at our feeder. I shudder to think. You got wonderful photos, and I do hope he obeys your house rules!!... Donna

  16. Julie Marie,

  19. Oh Julie Marie,
The other day that you wrote a post about Nature's Treasures...I thought about what you said...About looking around and taking in nature's treasures...Well, the following day I had to run an errand and what do you think I saw as I was on my way? A beautiful hawk flying high up above. I had to stop a while and just watch it soar. It was amazing. Wouldn't it be fun to imagine it was the same hawk that just came to visit you? Loved your post. Have a wonderful day my dear friend.

    Hugs and Kisses,
