My Pink Witch's Hat... Am I Getting Sweeter ??? ...

Hello ladies... in my previous post, my goodness, was that just this morning???... I posted about how this year I am under some kind of a "spell"... decorating with PINK pumpkins again... wanting to wear pretty PINK things for All Hallows Eve...I even bought PINK candy corn... YIKES!... but alas... I needed a PINK witch's hat... I looked in the yellow pages (why aren't there PINK pages???)... and not a single Witch's R Us Store to be found... no Witchy Couture either... SO, I had to use my own vivid imagination (which my mama always said I had plenty of, and she always encouraged me to let it flourish!)... I decided I must make my own PINK witch's hat...

I found a black, feathery hat and added my own magic PINK touches... some PINK silk roses...PINK satin ribbons... PINK vintage lace... PINK vintage rhinestone jewelry...and Voila!... a beautiful PINK hat for my night as La Sorciere Rose... (Pink Witch in French!)...

I LOVE how it turned out... but what is going on here???... AM I getting sweeter???... Jack says I couldn't be any sweeter, tee hee hee... (Boy! that must have been a doozie of a spell I put on him 33 years ago!)... but I wonder... is it because of all of YOU sweet blogger ladies???... you post such sweet things on your blogs... you visit mine and leave me sweet comments... oooh... is it starting to get to me??? ...

Perhaps it was Debra from Common Ground who sprinkled sweetness on me... she made this sweet vintage rhinestone jewelry key pendant I shall wear on All Hallows Eve... I was captured under it's beautiful spell when I saw it in her shop... (she is one of the sweetest ladies I know!)...

And I am feeling giddy looking at my PINK hat and cannot wait to wear it as All Hallow's Eve also has me under it's spell... AM I full of sugar and spice... and everything nice???... (or just plain full of it!)... will it go away once Halloween is over??? ... I want to be sweet... I really do... but will I???... shall I make a promise to be???...

We shall see... tee hee hee!...

A Pink Witch It Is...

Oooh, I have decided to be a nice witch this Halloween... a pink witch... now I must conjure up a PINK witch's outfit to wear... not just any old thing... something feminine, and pink, and beautiful... something totally bewitching... perhaps a pink hat with the softest of pink roses on it, with just a touch of vintage lace and perhaps some petite pearls...

Yes, pink it is... and I shall carry one of my pink pumpkins I showed you in my previous post (handpainted for me by the enchanting Celeste of Celestina Marie Designs)... so I am off now... in search of that elusive pink witch's hat... ooh, maybe Mari of A Pocket Full of Roses would know where to find one... she is so beautifully bewitching herself and adores pink... wishing you all a most captivating, mystical and magical day... xoxo

La Sorciere Rose...

Oh my goodness... it is happening to me again... last year, I was captured under some kind of a magical pink spell at Halloween... Moi... who loves black and orange... and bats and cats and witches hats... actually decorating with PINK pumpkins again!... oooh... my head feels a bit bloggy... oops!... I mean foggy...

I was all ready to dress as the purple lady who haunts the Rio Grande Depot for Halloween... then, this "spell" came over me... and look... Eeeek!... something (or someone???) is telling me to wear sparkly silver ballerina slippers instead of black witches boots... and a pretty Fleur de Lis necklace instead of the one with the skull on it... and vintage rhinestone earrings not spider ones this year... oh my!... and a petite black beaded French clutch bag to carry... what IS a witch to do???...

Hmmm... I must ponder all of these changes going through my mind... yes, and I must...

It Was a Dark and Stormy Night...

... much like tonight...the sky is an eerie bluish~black with just a hint of last eve's full moon casting a ghostly glow over the countryside surrounding my home... but I digress... I so want to tell you the tale of the Haunted Whaley House as I heard it for the first time on that dark, black night many years ago...again, a night so like this evening...the wind is beginning to howl, no, it is much more like a moan... I believe it is the wind... perhaps not... a chill runs up my spine just thinking about it...
The leaves are rustling about on my porch... I think it is the leaves... but wait, what was that shadow... my nerves are getting a little rattled tonight... perhaps I shall have a sip of something warm and something to eat and rest a spell... I shall need to regain my composure before I tell you the tale of the Haunted Whaley House... please do have something to eat and drink with me before you go... as we French sorcieres say...

A Shared Passion for the Sea... and a Very Special Lady...

If you have followed my blog at all (thank you!), then you know how much a part of my life Nature and all of God's precious little creatures are... my home is full of beautiful objects from Nature, and many handmade tresors as well... like this beautiful handcarved shorebird a friend of mine painstakingly created for me many years ago... it stands on an old piece of piling out of the Great Salt Lake which lies just to the west of our home... this beautiful shorebird remains one of my favorite things... I love the sea and everything about it... the cool moist sand between my toes, the shell line as you walk out in the water a bit, gathering seashells along a lonely stretch of beach, and finding just the perfect sand dollar... the crashing of the waves against a rocky cliff, the smell of the salty air, the sound of the foghorns at night as a misty fog rolls in... the clanking of the halyards on the masts of the sailboats in the harbor...and of course the beautiful shorebirds that make their home there... I have not been to the ocean for some years and I long for these things...

You may remember a post I did about some special little hand knitted nests I purchased from a beautiful lady named Vicki at 2 Bags Full... Recently Vicki posted about some "designer" shorebird nests she was working on, and I emailed her requesting I might be put on the list to purchase one... today, my beautiful nest arrived... only twenty of these gorgeous creations were made by Vicki, and will not be repeated... Vicki relayed a tale of the time she and her husband found an injured shorebird while they were vacationing in Florida, and how they lovingly rescued the beautiful creature, and took her to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, on the Gulf Coast in Florida, the largest seabird sanctuary in the United States... the beautiful creature was lovingly cared for there, and rehabilitated and released back to the sea life she had known and loved... you may read the whole story on Vicki's blog... as she tells about the very happy ending... right then and there she wanted to do more to help... a lady after my own heart for sure...

Out of the twenty nests she created, two of them were "extra special"... as the proceeds from these "two" nests would be donated to the Sanctuary... say no more... I knew one of the two "extra special" nests was destined to be mine... I loved that the money was going to help these beautiful birds... you can read more about the Sanctuary by clicking here...

My nest is number "20", the last in her series, and signed, dated and numbered...all of the nests are just stunning, but numbers 1 and 20 were designed with the most exquisite adornments of all... this is my nest in the photo above...I draped a beautiful vintage lace scarf around it to look like a fishing net of sorts...look closely at all of the tresors from the sea embellishing my nest...do you see the crystal fish and tiny sea turtle?...

My nest is full of petite seashells, little pearls, swarovski crystals, vintage beads and ribbon, vintage estate jewelry, a little glass fish, a teeny little vintage seahorse from Occupied Japan, and so much more...

The nest itself is out of the softest, most luxurious yarn I have ever seen or felt...

Nestled deep within the nest are three precious little handcrafted shorebird eggs... lovingly guarded by a crystal starfish...




It is absolutely full of beautiful crystals, shells, beads and these beautiful pieces of vintage estate jewelry... a most beautiful nest for one of God's most precious creatures...

Dear Vicki... I am totally overwhelmed by the beauty and craftsmanship of my nest... I will treasure this always, and each time I look at it, which will be very often, I will think of you, and your little shorebird you rescued... and from that, you were inspired to create these stunning little nests and also help our seabirds in distress... Nature Walk...Autumn Bliss in Centerville...

Hello there!... it's so beautiful on my Nature walk these lingering days of Autumn... come along with me... the air is crisp, the sky is blue and the sun casts a golden spell all along the way... what an inviting porch we pass...I could sit in that rocker and daydream for hours...
