"A Gathering of Thoughts" From the Heart of a Child...

I begin this post by trying to "gather my own thoughts"... this post is about two very special people... I want to make sure my words express my feelings about them... most of you already know dear Rebecca of "A Gathering of Thoughts"... a short time ago, she posted about her adorable little granddaughter "Miss K"... I love reading about Miss K... on this particular post Rebecca had told about how Miss K had come to spend the night at her house, as she so often does, and asked her nana why the other little girls did not like her... I could sense the pain Rebecca felt thinking of her little granddaughter being hurt by others unkind words... my heart ached for the both of them...rather than me tell the story, you may click here and read Rebecca's post...

This is little Kylah, or "Miss K" as her nana calls her... Miss K is seven years old and a little doll! She is a miniature Rebecca in every way... so pretty, so sweet and kind and loving... and so very sensitive...

She reminds me of another little girl who was (and still is sometimes) very shy, and very sensitive... this little girl also had more than her fair share of taunting and teasing as a young lady... wondering why all the other little girls made fun of her so much, and did not include her in so many things... she felt most safe and loved with her family... (which still holds true today)... I was the same age as Kylah in the photo below... sometimes, even though the years pass by, the hurt feelings from long ago never fade away... I was sad... ok, and I was mad, I admit it, that mean little girls would treat little Miss K this way too...

I wanted to let Miss K know that she is loved, just exactly the way she is... which makes her so very precious... she is such a beautiful little girl, not just on the outside, but, like her nana, on the inside as well... I felt a closeness to this little girl many miles away from me... so, I decided to write her a little card and send her a little package... "just because"... from me to her... I wanted to take away any pain she was going through... and no, I don't mean that buying gifts takes away the pain... but the thoughts behind the gift would mean something special to her... they did... here she is opening her little "Hello Kitty" purse I sent her... you can read Rebecca's post by clicking here and see all of the other adorable photos... Rebecca entitled this one "Too excited to Speak"!... (Rebeccca graciously allowed me to use some of her photos, thanks Rebecca!)...

Today, I received a package in the mail... the return address said it was from Rebecca... I excitedly opened it... inside were these beautiful treasures from Rebecca and Kylah... one of Rebecca's gorgeous handmade pillows and a matching beautiful card and hanging tag, a notecard of Rebecca's with a heartfelt note to me inside... and a beautiful card (by Rebecca) with a handwritten thank~you note from little Miss K herself to me...

My beautiful pillow...

The outside of my card from Miss K...

On the back of the envelope was a photo of her...

The front of the card from Miss K...

And inside the card... a beautiful handwritten note thanking me for her little gifts, and she drew her precious little hand, with little hearts on the tips of her nails...

I cannot seem to put my thoughts into words as to how I am feeling today... but I am hoping you can tell... people seem to come into our lives at different times, and for different reasons...I am so happy Rebecca and Miss K came into mine... thank you so much Kylah and Rebecca!... I called Rebecca today to thank her and Kylah and mentioned a pretty song about little children that I love... she wanted the words to it... so, dear Rebecca, these pink roses from my garden and these words are for you...

"See the little children laugh and sing
Fantasy is such a common thing
Love is why the flowers grow
Of all the red and blue
I wish they never had to know
Love can hurt them too

See the little children laugh and sing...

See the little children running by
Happiness is dancing in each eye
And love is just a mountain tall
Where angels learn to sing
How could they know that angels fall
Before they grow their wings?

See the little children running by...

See the little children on their way
Give them kisses, candy and today
Tomorrow will be soon enough
To know what we speak of
Tomorrow will be soon enough
To know the hurt of love

See the little children on their way"...

Nature's Beauty...

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"... to me, this is so true...

While on our Nature walk the other day, Jack stopped to pick this beautiful "flower" of Nature up off the ground for me... it is actually a flower of a weed gone to seed, (it's not a dandelion)... but to us it is beautiful... he held it out for me to photograph... then I carried it home...

When I took it out to my garden to get more photos, I noticed how beautiful the flowers looked behind it... so I meandered around my gardens, holding it over blooms here and there...

Pretty in Pink Roses...

Petunias...

Wishing you a beautiful day... and hoping you take the time to notice the everyday beauty of Nature... xoxo

A Red, Red Rose...

"O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June;
O my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly played in tune" ~Robert Burns

Red roses and love... they just go together... Jack and I recently celebrated our 33rd Anniversary... one of the first things he bought for me for our very first home together so very long ago was a gardenful of climbing Chrysler Imperial red roses to plant... I knew our love would last forever... those red roses promised me that as they flourished in that very first garden of ours... we moved from that home to the little farm I posted about... and my beautiful red roses were left behind... perhaps that is why I am soo drawn to the little old abandoned building I have posted about so often... I chatted with my sweet friend Rebecca at A Gathering of Thoughts one day recently about that little building and the beautiful roses... she agreed there is something wonderful about my little forgotten place in time... I ran an idea past her and she thought it was perfect!... so that afternoon, I drove once more to my little enchanted spot and took a number of clippings from the graceful roses, now in full bloom, as you see in the photo I took just that day a week or so ago...

I placed three of the cuttings right in my cottage garden, under vintage fruit jars, just like my mama started her rose garden so many years ago from cuttings from my grandmother's garden... I also started five cuttings inside in little pots... today, several of the cuttings have the teeniest of new growth on them... I look at them wistfully... hoping they will flourish, as Jack and I have since those first red roses 33 years ago... I will always love you Jack... and I will always love beautiful red roses... xoxo

A Letter from the Nests...

First, I must explain how this post came to be... last week, I joined "Where Bloggers Create" hosted by Karen at My Desert Cottage... I have had (and still am having) such a wonderful time visiting everyone and seeing their beautiful havens they escape to where they create, rest, read, or just daydream... I have made so many new friends, been so inspired by all of you, and found so many delightful treasures to purchase... a visit to 2bagsfull left me completely enchanted! ... so much so, that I not only left comments, but emailed Vicki, the proprietress of the blog... Vicki creates the most precious little nests I have ever seen... please click here to read her story about the "Sissy Nests" and the letter they sent home to her... you know me, I LOVE Nature, and you also know that I "interview" little critters, name them, and carry on conversations with them... Vicki is so adorable... when you read her "Letters from the Nests" posts you will see what I mean... So, I ordered two little nests and they arrived today! I promised Vicki they would write to her as soon as they arrived here at Idyllhours... thus, "A Letter from the Nests"...oh yes, Vicki asked that I name them, so I have done so...

"Dear Mama Knitter... this is me, Sylvie Sissy... Prissy Sissy and I arrived today at our new home with Julie Marie... Miss Dee knew how nervous we were to venture away from her shop, so she made sure we were packed very carefully for our journey to our new home... Julie Marie was sooo excited when she found us at her PO Box, she was telling all the ladies who work at the post office about us! They always get excited for her too, they are nice ladies mama, and they want us to come back and see them one day... you will always be my Knitter Mama, and now Julie Marie is my mama as well... she took me right outside and let me rest on this log... a pretty Bluejay comes here each day to get peanuts Julie Marie puts out... I had barely started to rest, when a pretty little birdie landed on me!... I think she was checking on the eggs mama, and thinks they are hers... she is going to watch after them... I love this little birdie and she told me I am the prettiest nest she has ever seen!... I told her my name is "Sylvie"... I am French you know, like Julie Marie, and Sylvie means "from the forest" in French... I am a Nature lover like Julie Marie is too!... how fun!...

Prissy Sissy didn't even want to go outside, can you believe it! She just wanted to sit in a comfy chair, surrounded by fufu things... right away, a Prissy little birdie flew in and now watches over the eggs in Prissy's nest...

You know how Prissy Sissy is... she has satin and lace pillows now, and pink silk roses, and books about tea parties and such... even the Prissy Birdie has pearls around her neck and sparkles on her wings... much too fancy for me mama, but Prissy Sissy said she is in shabby chic Heaven!... I love my sissy, so I am glad she is happy here... we were sooo scared to venture so far away! ... but I think we are calmed down now...

Julie Marie, my new mama, set me on a pretty old~fashioned looking quilt, with a pretty little flowerpot full of angelvine and some Nature books for me to read... Julie Marie said I am alot like her... nothing fancy or glamorous, just full of love for Nature and All God's Creatures... I love Julie Marie... and I know I will be happy here too! ...

Well, that is about it for now mama... I promised you we would write the minute we arrived at our new home... we will never forget you... please write to us whenever you want... we love you Mama Knitter... tell all of our other sissy's hello and we hope they get a nice home like we did!... xoxo Sylvie Sissy and Prissy Sissy"

"A Rose by any other name...

...would smell as sweet"... ~William Shakespeare... spoken by Juliet in Romeo and Juliet... what does that mean, you ask? It means "what matters is what something is... not what it is called"... here's a little peek at some of my roses blooming in my gardens today... I shall, however, tell you names of some... "Cupcake"...

"The Fairy"...

"Cinderella"...

"Cinderella"...

"The Fairy"...

"Cupcake"...

"Cinderella"...

"Pretty in Pink"...

"Cinderella"... (Cinderella ranges from light peach to deeper coral on the same bush!)...

Okay, I know sometimes I can be a little silly... all right, I can be ALOT silly... as I was taking these photos, I thought this little "Fairy" rosebud looked like she was sticking her tongue out at me! ...

While "Cinderella" looked like she was giving me a kiss! ...

Wishing you a beautiful day... and sending you oodles of rosy kisses! ... xoxo
