Solitude in the early morning hours...

I am an early riser... usually waking up between 0430~500 in the morning... while the rest of the world is undoubtedly still fast asleep, I am enjoying a hot cup of coffee in one of my favorite vintage cups and savoring my quiet time alone...

I get cozy and comfy on our couch in our living room, coffee close at hand, and let my thoughts drift away... to wherever they may take me... this is my own time, the minutes belong to me right now and no one else... I cherish this serene morning ritual known as solitude... I believe we all need this time to ourselves, to sort our thoughts, plan our day, let daydreams and fantasies carry us away... for just a little while... if a negative thought interrupts my happy ones, I quickly replace it with something sweet... I am a creature of habit, and I like it that way... there are sooo many things in life that I love and am passionate about... I don't want to sleep too long and miss all of the beauty the day has to offer...
"Inside myself is a place where I live all alone, and that's where I renew my springs that never dry up"... Pearl S. Buck... Bisous...

  1. What a lovely post Julie! I love having my time to myself. For me, it is usually in the evenings. The boys get up so early, lol! Your cup is beautiful!
I woke up with a fever and sore throat :( I hope I feel better by Saturday, my mom needs me for the shower! Though it may be canceled! My SIL is back in the hospital, that baby wants to be born so bad!! I hope she waits two more weeks!
    Love ya sis,

  2. I also enjoy time to myself, I use my old rocker with pillows in the corner to sit and meditate as I call it.

  3. Hi Julie,
That is mee all the way .. Up way before 5:oo am .. LoVe just curling up on the sofa with my tea, paper and magazines .. LoVe to watch early morning news .. Always ready to walk out the door by 7:00. to take my youngest to school .. I get all my errands run, by the time I go to work at 11:00 .. But, I go to bed soooo early .. I'm a early riser, don't want to miss abeat kinda girlie .. Soo much to get out and see .. Hoping your morning is a beautiful, peaceful one ~
    hugs ~tea~xo

  4. Me too, I'm an earlier riser. Wasn't when I was young. My mom used to say, you're wasting your life away sleeping, get up sleepyhead!

I love the quiet of the morning.

  5. Hi, a girl after my own heart. Mornings are just to lovely to miss. I am a true believer in the renewal/quiet time alone. Thanks for the share. The tea cup is beautifu. el

  6. Bonjour Julie Marie,
Just found your beautiful blog via your comment at Bunny's The Paris House. What a lovely teacup to start your day (very early day I might add).
I'll be following along and will be back soon.
    Bonne soirée

  7. I am an early rider, as well. It doesn't matter what time i go to be, I still wake up early. Last night, I worked until almost midnight and didn't get to bed until 12:45a and still I woke up before 5a. I do like being up that early because, although I do see the same people each morning on my wake, there aren't very many out. It's my walking meditation time. So tomorrow morning, long before the sun is up and I am out walking around the island, I'll think of you and send a little prayer your way!

    Love and hugs,

  8. Hi Julie Marie, I saved the pic of your Cup for the Giveaway decision. Thank you for taking part and finding my blog, wish you a nice weekend, Mira!

  9. Ahhhhh, we are up at the same time and doing the same thing! Such a sweet time of day - I'm so glad that you enjoy it as well.

  10. Julie Marie~
Time alone in the morning is also precious to me. One benefit of being a little older is that I don't have to go into "high gear" immediately in the morning with getting Haley off to school and then going straight to work. I love solitude, too, and while you sip coffee from one of your lovely teacups, I sip coffee from the biggest mug I can find in my kitchen cabinet! My big kitty ~ Mr. Bubbles ~ is running for President in 2012 and his first mandate to all Americans is to sit in silence every morning for 15 minutes. Wonder if Mr. Bubbles will win.... xoxo Amy

  11. I love the early morning time and have always been an earlier riser. I always like to garden early and listen to the birds sing their early morning song.
    Take Care!

  12. Hi Julie Marie, Beautiful quote,I love your pretty teacup!Sorry to hear of your aunt Bettys passing wonderful memories to have.Sincerely, Jonny
