Mmmmmm... apple pie...

I just had to show off my apple pie I made... I used some of my Honeycrisp apples I blogged about (my favorite!)... this is the "before" picture... before we ate it all! ... I love baking things from scratch...

If I say so myself, Aunt Bea would have been proud of me!... (I always wanted some of her pie in Mayberry!)... Bisous...

  4. OK ... I am always talking about the Gravensteins being the BEST apple ever, it is an 'old' apple. They are very hard to find out this way. In WA ST they even label the canned apple sauce in the stores as 'made with Gravenstein' ... so I see all these gals talking about Honey Crisp ... what are they all talking about?@?@? I finally found some ... they are not at all too different from a Gravenstein.

My question to you Julie Marie is this ~ when they bake down in the cooking pie process, do they come out soft with a sweet & sour taste as when eaten raw? I truly enjoyed them fresh, so I bought 4 to start with.

And, finally, your pie looks delish ... put the tea kettle on my friend ... I'm enroute. Chuckle!

  6. Looks pretty yummy!

We have a September Ruby apple tree in our yard, and its apples make really wonderful apple sauce and pies. They are sweet, you don't need to add any sugar, which is nice.

    I don't think I've ever had Honeycrisp. It's a nice name.

  8. Hello, Julie Marie,
That pie must have been wonderful, everything "made from scratch" usually is. Not only was it delicious, but it is so pretty to look at, too. I would love to have been able to drop by and have a piece with you along with some hot steaming coffee. Blessings to you, dear friend! Vicki

  21. OH Julie Marie, Now you really did it, I'm going out to get some apple pie, because that looks very good. We have a place here that makes awesome pies and the crust is wonderful. My Mom and my family on both sides were excellent cooks and bakers. For me I'm not much into baking, but believe it or not my husband is doing very well with it. Apple pie is my favorite!

    Big hug-

  26. Dear Julie Marie~ I've always wanted Aunt Bea's pie just as much as June Cleaver's cake! Pie ala mode is my weakness!! For me the flaky pie crust is as essential as the contents in it.
When we venture to the Oregon coast, we frequent a restaurant that has homemade pies! They have a little grandma who's been hired solely to make her delicious home pie recipes...and I'm happy she does.

    Sweet wishes,
    Sara
