While on our morning walk today we passed these pretty Cosmos growing along an old wooden fence... Old~fashioned flowers are my favorite, especially Cosmos... they remind me always of being in my great~grandma Souder's cottage garden in Santa Fe when I was a little girl... these are for you, grandma...
I know what you mean about the old-fashioned flowers bringing back sweet memories. Hollyhocks do that for me, as well as lilacs. I think of my grandmother's yard and all the fun I had there. Smiles, June
Oh yes, the Hollyhocks remind me of my mother and she is still living. She use to play with them by the hours in the summer at her home in Ephraim Utah. These Cosmos are beautiful also. I really love plum this summer. Is that the fench by the famous roses?
I live in a peaceful, bucolic little rural town with Jack, my love of 36 years and Tessy, our beautiful English Pointer stray we rescued, who fills our home and hearts with happiness and love. Folks are friendly here and the surrounding countryside is beautiful... simple country pleasures make me happiest...my days are spent sharing laughter and good times with family and friends, tending to my old~fashioned cottage gardens and country home, daily Nature walks, my everlasting love for all of God's precious little creatures, daydreaming, and taking time to live each day to the fullest. I am of French and English heritage and I cherish the people, places, objects and events from the past, for they are all a part of who I am today. I hope you enjoy your visit to Idyllhours and will come back often... the coffeepot is always on... xoxo Julie Marie

Gorgeous photo and such a sweet post! I love old wood fencing, we've been collecting old wood fence planks to resurface our barn with.
Hope you enjoyed your day!

Karyn, you are so lucky to have a barn... what kind of animals do you have???

Cindy and June, I too love Hollyhocks! Cindy, this is a different fence, kind of looks like the one by those roses though...
That's a beautiful picture of them, and June I can't believe how many peonies you grow! whoa.
